Description
Argireline acetate which is a synthetic anti-wrinkle cosmetics ingredient. It is a peptide which is a fragment of SNAP-25, a substrate of Botulinum toxin .
Function
Reduces existing facial wrinkles.
Argireline is effective against the development of new wrinkles.
Decreases the depth of facial wrinkles caused by the contraction of muscles from facial expressions, especially near the eyes and on the forehead.
Mechanism of action of Argireline
Argireline is involved in the competition for SANP-25 at the site of the melt-foam complex, thereby affecting the formation of the complex. When the melt-foaming complex is slightly unstable, the vesicles cannot effectively release the neurotransmitter, thereby causing the muscle contraction to be weakened and preventing the formation of wrinkles.
Chemically, when applied as a solution to specific areas of the face, Argireline inhibits the reactions that cause muscles to move or contract - for example when forming facial expressions such as smiling or frowning.
