  • DISCUS 45|32 LTD TUBELESS WHEELSET INFORMATION

The 3T Discus 45|35 LTD Tubeless Wheelset combine the comfort of off-road wheels with the aerodynamics of road wheels. They are wide, strong, and fast while remaining aero despite their width, providing extra comfort and grip. These wheels are optimized for 28-30mm tires, making them a great choice for the 3T Strada. They also pair well with 32-40mm gravel tires for your 3T Exploro. The Discus is engineered with RealFast aerodynamics which allows these 45mm deep rims to offer nearly identical crosswind resistance to standard wheels with 60mm of rim depth. The rim is designed to be more balanced at the front and rear to cancel out aerodynamic disadvantages, leading 3T to claim it as the fastest wheel at 45mm.

Many companies neglect hooks from their wheels in a quest to lower weight. 3T decided that for these all-around wheels, hooks should be added for ultimate safety. While it is not the norm to get flats in a tubeless clincher, wheels can be damaged when it does happen. For that reason, 3T added a Safety Ridge to these wheels. The Safety Ridge keeps the tire on the rim through a flat to avoid damage to your wheels. For extra safety, there is a Sealtight feature which keeps mud, water, and everything else out of the bearings to keep the wheels fresh. These wheels come with dual freehub bodies to accommodate whatever setup you decide to use. A SRAM xD-R body accommodates both xD and xD-R cassettes while the Shimano freehub houses Shimano 10 and 11-speed cassettes.

  • 3T DISCUS C35 TEAM CLINCHER WHEELSET
  • DISCUS C35 TEAM CLINCHER WHEELSET INFORMATION

The middle child often has issues. Here, the 3T Discus C35 Team Wheelset’s only issue is that it’s so secure taking from its siblings, it might be too confident. It shares the hub design of the C35 Pro and a carbon-fiber rim similar to that on the C35 LTD, giving you a light disc-brake wheel (1425g for the set) with good aerodynamics and the right price.

The rim is carbon-fiber, designed for clincher tires, wide, 32mm deep, and offset to the left. The design is asymmetric to better balance the spoke tension on dished wheels. You know that rear wheels are dished, but once you go to disc brakes, front wheels need to be dished, too. Further, the front spokes need to be crossed due to the twisting forces at the hub from the brake.

The spoke bed is also improved by what 3T calls double-angle drilling, which means that the holes are set both for the radial and tangent angles, creating a straighter line from the hub flanges to the rim. The alloy nipples are set internally for greater rim strength and they rest on washers that add strength to the rim and make it easy to tension if you ever knock the rim out of true.

Going back to the rim, it is wide for aerodynamics. With 700c by 23-25mm tires, and you won’t want to narrower, the tire, when mounted to the rim will result in the leading and trailing edges being nearly identical. This is an aero benefit both for no-wind and crosswind situations. The greater air volume reduces rolling resistance and increases comfort for a given pressure and means you can even lower pressure and see both rolling resistance and comfort improve. Wider tires, also fit, and you can probably go as wide as your bike allows.

The double-butted aero spokes, 24 front and rear, crossed-two, lead to flanges designed for straight-pull spokes. Below the spokes is a convertible axle system. There are pinch bolts on the end caps. These can be loosened and the caps removed so you can chose between a quick-release axle and a thru-axle. This is for both front and rear hubs, with the front width the standard 100mm, swapping to either a 12 or 15mm thru-axle, and the rear width 135mm, allowing you to choose between a standard quick release or a 135x12mm or 142x12mm thru axle. All necessary end caps, axles, and quick releases are included.

The disc rotor, and you’ll need one for each hub, mounts to the hub via Centerlock-style splines.

The standard cassette body is a Shimano/SRAM-compatible 10/11-speed spline. A 9/10/11-speed Campagnolo-compatible cassette body is available as an aftermarket option. The set also comes with rim strips.

The 3T Discus C35 Team Wheelset gives you the advantage of carbon-fiber rims with a smart axle design so your disc-brake-equipped bike is ready for anything.

  • 3T DISCUS PLUS C30W TEAM WHEELSET
  • DISCUS PLUS C30W TEAM WHEELSET INFORMATION

With the Discus Plus C30W Team Wheelset, 3T is marrying wide to carbon to the increasingly-popular 650b wheel size. It’s light, it’s strong, it’s versatile. They see it as complementary to their Exploro frameset, but really, it works great for mountain, cross, and adventure bikes.

Let’s start with width. The exterior width is 34mm. The interior width is 28mm wide (they round to 30 to get the 30 in the name). The depth is 28mm. It’s hard to give you an exact minimum tire width, as there is no tire-sizing standard. That written, probably 40mm, maybe some 35mm tires, is the minimum. You can go as wide as you can find with 650b, though the real limiter is the frame with wide tires. is the max if you’re putting these wheels on an Exploro.

The material is carbon. As this isn’t a rim-brake wheel, the sidewalls of the rim are designed to work for resisting the outward force of the tire only and the vertical force of hitting the ground. Because they don’t have to withstand braking forces or heat, the rims could be made lighter. The depth is shallow, less about aero than it is about minimizing rotating weight.

Because they were starting from zero, drilling for spokes was examined, and revised. First, they decided to go with asymmetric drilling, moving the holes off the center line to better balance out spoke tension between the left and right sides. Then they drilled the holes with something they call “double angle drilling” which means that each hole has been aligned with the hub flange the spoke will be coming from. And the nipple sits in a washer to better align the nipple. Straighter spokes are stronger and less likely to fatigue.

The hub flanges are designed to work with straight-pull spokes. Stronger and lighter. The spokes are round and in a two-cross pattern. 24 spokes in front, 24 in the rear.

The axles are designed with endcaps that one can install and remove by hand. This allows the rider to quickly and easily switch the hubs from quick release to 12mm or 15mm thru- axles in front and to 12x135 or 12x142mm thru-axles in back.

The standard cassette body is splined and designed to work with SRAM and Shimano 9/10/11-speed cassettes. They sell SRAM XD and Campagnolo 9/10/11-speed compatible bodies if you have a need for those.

The 3T Discus Plus C30W Team Wheelset opens up tire selection and performance on disc-brake equipped road, cross, and adventure bikes.

  • 3T DISCUS PLUS I28 LTD TUBELESS WHEELSET
  • DISCUS PLUS I28 LTD TUBELESS WHEELSET INFORMATION

3T created the Discus Plus I28 Tubeless Wheelset for optimal gravel performance. These wheels work perfectly with their Exploro gravel bike. The Discus wheels are stronger, lighter, and fit larger tires. The smaller wheels are better for handling and allows for shorter chainstays and a shorter headtube. With wider tires, riders can expect more grip and comfort over the most difficult terrain. With the 3T Discus I28 LTD Tubeless Wheelset, you can expect an agile ride, great handling, and low weight.

On a 650b rim, tires can hold far more air volume than a 700c wheel. This is perfect for extra compliance on gravel terrain or any off-road situation. The 3T Discus I28 LTD Wheels are as good as it gets in gravel speed and performance.
